Pre-School – Pratt Street Learning Center

Pre-school (3-5 years old):

Our pre-school classrooms encompass programs through the partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia to offer the Head Start, PreK Counts and PHLPrek preschool programs which is no cost to families. We also offer before-and-after care for families needing programming beyond the hours of 8:00am-2:30pm.

We provide quality education throughout each of our programs. You can expect child screenings and assessments to ensure development in the areas of cognition (academic), social-emotional, physical, comprehensive services such as nutrition, health and wellness, family supports, and home visits. These services, which have been followed by Head Start for over 50 years, have proven to help children and their families create a strong foundation for success. We are here to support that foundation.

Hours of Preschool program: 8:00am-2:30pm

Extended hours available for an additional fee (Subsidy accepted or private pay)
Center hours:
- Pratt Street- 6:00am – 5:00pm
- Bustleton- 7:00am – 5:15pm

We follow and implement The Creative Curriculum^® and the Blueprint for Early Literacy curriculum as well as the Second Step Social-Emotional Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum, which translates research and theory from the field of early childhood education into a practical, easy-to-understand approach to working with children and their families. It focuses on routines and experiences.

Blueprint for Early Literacy curriculum is a pre-kindergarten early literacy curriculum which helps teachers provide children with essential early literacy skills in whole group, small group and individual settings. Both curricula are aligned with our philosophy of a high-quality child care program for the care and safety of the children and the surrounding community.

Second Step Curriculum helps little learners harness their energy and potential by teaching to listen, pay attention, manage their behavior, and get along with others. When students enter kindergarten with the self-regulation and social-emotional skills taught with evidence-based Second Step® Early Learning, they’re set up for success.
